community with peace, liberty, and justice for all; respect for the

Systems Institute (ESI) is
an organization dedicated to environmental conservation and sustainable
development. Lisa Couturier is a Senior Fellow with ESI. ESI’s
vision is holistic and strategic, understanding the complex, inter-dependence
between human societies and natural systems. ESI recognizes that the
arts, the sciences, and a deeply rooted sense of connectedness are
needed to motivate and empower people to live out their life mission
in deep connection with and service to Nature. ESI offers a wide range
of innovative, highly experiential programs for individuals and organizations
dedicated to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Second Chance Wildlife
Center - A local Washington DC area wildlife
center in Montgomery County, Maryland whose mission is to facilitate
the preservation of local wildlife through education, rehabilitation,
and referrals. SCWC is housed in an historic Gaithersburg farmhouse
surrounded by fields, woods, a marsh, and a stream. Many recently
released animals share SCWC grounds with permanent wild residents
before moving on to establish their own niches in the surrounding
woods and fields. Others are released at special sites--such as nature
centers and animal sanctuaries that are safe for wildlife.
Scales
and Tales Wildlife Education - Many people
consider it a tremendous thrill to catch a glimpse of a mysterious
owl as it flies across a dark country road at night, or to see a majestic
hawk soaring high in the sky on a bright clear day. Fewer people have
seen these creatures from merely a few feet away. The Maryland Department
of Natural Resources provides this opportunity to Marylanders every
day. Scales & Tales, an environmental education program of the
State Forest and Park Service, affords people the opportunity to see
live wildlife, mostly native to Maryland, up close and personal. This
informative and entertaining program uses live unreleasable birds
of prey and reptiles to promote stewardship of our wildlife and other
natural resources. Through the stories, or "tales" of how
these animals come into the care of the program, Scales & Tales
naturalists discuss very important environmental issues, such as loss
of habitat, environmental pollution, resource management and biodiversity.

National Wildlife Rehabilitator's Association -“Improving

Center for Ecozoic Studies
(CES) - CES is dedicated to the principle that
we live in a meaningful, continuously evolving universe. In such a
universe, the Ecozoic Era is a process concept—not something
to be arrived at, but rather something ever to be created. Its hallmarks
are inclusiveness, interdependence, and appreciation; communion, differentiation,
and subjectivity; and sensitivity, adaptability, and responsibility.
It crucially involves more just and cooperative relationships among
humans, as well as transformed relationships of humans with the larger
natural world. |
|
Author and philosopher Thomas Berry is the father of the Ecozoic
Era. His work forms the intellectual and spiritual basis for the
work of CES.
